Polygon, edge and vertices count are important statistics to know for 3D modeling. The Blender scene statistics can be displayed in both the status bar and the 3D viewport. Here’s how to turn on scene statistics to see how many polygons, edges and vertices are in an object or a scene.

Display Scene Statistics in Status Bar
The Blender scene statistics can be displayed in the status bar at the bottom the screen no matter where you are in Blender. There are two ways to turn them on.

To display scene statistics (poly count, etc) in the Blender status bar, go to Edit – Preferences. In the “Theme” tab of the User Preferences, expand options for the Status Bar. Check the box for “Scene Statistics.”

Another way of showing statistics in the status bar is to simply right click on the right side of the status bar and check the box for “Scene Statistics.”

This will cause a statistics section to be added to the status bar at the bottom of Blender. In Object Mode, it will show statistics for the entire scene. When in Edit Mode, statistics will be displayed for the individual object(s) that are selected.

How to Show Scene Statistics in 3D Viewport
We can have the scene statistics appear as an overlay in the 3D viewport.
To see statistics in the 3D viewport, go to the overlays menu and check the box for “Statistics.” The statistics will display on the left side of the 3D viewport.

How to See Polygon and Vertex Count for Objects in Blender
If you are trying to find out how many vertices, edges or polygons a specific 3D model has, first turn on the statistics as explained in the previous section.
To see poly and vertex counts for an object in Blender, turn on scene statistics. Then select the object and enter edit mode. The statistics will show how many vertices, edges, faces and triangles are in the model.
We can also select a portion of the mesh and Blender will show us statistics for the selected portion as well as the entire object as shown in the following image:

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I see the polygon and vertex count for an object in the Blender status bar?

Right click on the status bar at the bottom of the screen and check the box for “Scene Statistics.” Select an object, enter edit mode and select the entire mesh. Statistics will display in the status bar for the object.
How do I see the polygon and vertex count for an object in the Blender 3D Viewport?

Go to the overlays menu in the top right of the 3D Viewport. In the menu, check the box for “Statistics.”
Conclusion
Scene statistics such as poly count and vert count show us how much geometry we have in a scene. This is important if we plan to sell our models and wish to show these counts.
I hope this helped. Take a look around the site because I’ve tried to pack it with a lot of information for how to learn Blender. I also have a YouTube channel with video tutorials. Stay creative!
