If you’re using Blender and notice the 3D viewport glitching or flickering, especially when you’re moving your view, here’s the likely fix.

The Blender 3D viewport is glitching.
The glitchy effect is caused by a low clip start

This effect isn’t a bug in Blender. It’s a setting that may need to be adjusted for your scene. The flickering glitch is something called Z-fighting and here’s how to fix it…

How to Fix Flickering & Glitching in BLENDER 3D Viewport

To fix glitching in the 3D viewport, open the sidebar menu by pressing “N” on the keyboard. Go to the “View” tab to find the Clip Start and End settings.

The clip start setting in the Blender sidebar is highlighted.
Increase Clip Start in Sidebar

By default, the Clip Start is set to .01. Increase it to about .05 and see if that fixes it. If you still have the issue, increase the clip start more until the flickering glitch disappears.

I can’t fully explain why this happens, but it has to do with the Blender camera having to calculate microscopically small distances from the camera. Adding some clip distance gives the camera some breathing room. I hope it helped, check me out on YouTube and here’s the Blender Manual’s reference for clipping.
